Separate presentation from transit protection
A retail box presents the product and carries brand and product information. A shipping box protects the packed product as it moves through handling and delivery. Some packaging systems can combine these jobs, but a printed folding carton should not automatically be treated as a parcel-ready shipper.
Describe the complete packing arrangement
Tell your supplier whether items ship individually or together, and include the weight of the product and protective components. Describe any fragile parts, movement concerns and expected handling conditions. Ask for recommendations that account for the full packed assembly rather than just the visible outer carton.
Review the delivered result
Use a sample to check fit and assembly, then discuss suitable transit testing with the supplier. Review the external packed dimensions when comparing freight options. A compact box is useful only if the product remains adequately protected and the customer can open it without difficulty.
